Movin’ On Up (North)

April 5, 2017

There has been substantial growth at Toffee Factory in 2017 with new residents either relocating to or expanding their UK operations to a new base within the North of England. The 25 creative and digital companies at Toffee Factory will now be joined by teams from W Communications, Factory 35 and Derma UK.

Global PR Agency, W Communications, currently operate from their London, Amsterdam and Singapore offices and are set to expand their UK operations with, W North, having acquired Newcastle based Glue PR.

Richard Thompkins, W Managing Director said, “We spent a lot of time looking at different cities and towns across the North of England and into Scotland, but settled on Newcastle because of its unique blend of strong culture, burgeoning creativity, connectivity to both the South and Scotland, and most importantly, the quality of talent available.”

Factory 35 who relocated from London last month manage an image library and specialise in exclusive Rights Managed licensing.  Matthew Stone, Factory 35, said this about their recent move to Toffee, “After deciding to relocate our workspace to Newcastle, the Toffee Factory was initially one of several places we considered. It quickly became evident it was the place for us. The biggest draw was the community aspect of sharing a well-designed building with other companies based in the digital/design/creative industries. With guest lunch on Thursday’s, friendly management staff and a ping-pong table to drag you from your desk, we find ourselves working as hard as ever, yet feeling more relaxed at our new home.”

Toby Hyam, Managing Director of Creative Space Management had this to say about our new occupiers, “We are delighted to welcome these new companies to Toffee Factory and to become part of one of the fastest growing clusters of creative and tech businesses outside London.  Newcastle’s strong networks of knowledge companies and a rapidly growing talent pool is making it more attractive both as a location for growth and for attracting businesses looking to relocate.”

Derma UK are set to move their operations to the North East in May. The firm specialise in product development and branding they were formed in 2001.
