Toffee Factory hosts British by Design Pop Up Shop for Ouseburn Open Studios Weekend

November 20, 2012

Toffee Factory and Design Event joined forces to present the first ever British by Design pop up shop as part of Ouseburn’s popular Open Studios Weekend on Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 November.

The British By Design pop up shop stocked a range of items, ideal as Christmas presents for all the family, including jewellery, bookends, birdhouses, prints, textiles, ceramics, clocks and more.

British by Design (www.britishbydesign.org) is an online store run by Design Event featuring products that are well made with beautiful aesthetics and character. Many of the products featured are by up and coming designers and are therefore not widely available through other retailers.

Lisa Tolan from Toffee Factory added:

“We wanted to join in with the valley’s popular Ouseburn Open Studios weekend and the Pop Up Shop with British by Design seemed the perfect way. Visitors can also see Toffee Factory’s newest installation of brightly coloured books and objects filling the bookcase in its reception by Interior Design graduate Nicola Miller.”

Karen Nairstone from Design Event said:

“If you are looking for unique and inspiring gifts to spread the Christmas cheer come along to the British by Design Pop Up Shop!”

Along with Toffee Factory, this year’s regular hosts, 36 Lime Street, Mushroom Works, Northern Print, Colbalt Studios, The Biscuit Factory and The Biscuit Tin, were also joined this year by Ouse Street Arts Club, a brand new creative venue housed in two converted shipping containers on Ouse Street.
