It’s back, it’s back, it’s back!
We are delighted to welcome back, OUSETURN IS IT FOR LUNCH, our programme of weekly street food pop-ups. The popular weekday highlight began in 2013 and has had a steady following throughout. The foodies are more than happy to cater for the building’s neighbours and visitors to the area too – get yourselves along!
Each Thursday, 12.00 to 2.00pm, will see a guest stall serve up delights ranging from gourmet burgers to Caribbean food and plenty in between. The beauty of street food means that if you’re in a rush you can stroll down on your lunch break and grab something to go; if it’s a more leisurely slice of downtime that you crave, pull up a seat under the arch or by the river and chow down on some freshly prepared fare. Thursdays are certainly the day to leave behind that soggy sarnie and enjoy something a bit special.
First in the line-up sees the return of the mighty Fat Hippo who initially collaborated with the team way back when. The firm have gone from strength to strength since then with a fleet of street food trucks and a host of restaurants now open across the country.

“We always love coming to cook our burgers and dirty fries at Toffee Factory, in fact it was where we did our first ever street food event so it’s always nice to be back!”
The occupiers at Toffee Factory are excited to get their weekly foodie fix back.

From Chucho’s Tacos to Scream for Pizza and Acropolis, this delicious food breaks up our working day perfectly and it’s also great to meet other Toffees for a bit of social. Even if you don’t work here, please come along and experience some of the best street food in the north east between 12 and 2pm every Thursday.”

The space is brilliantly designed by Xsite Architecture to nurture creativity and features furniture and prints by a number of Northern designers we work with on the Northern Design Festival. We have done pop up design events at the Toffee Factory during Open Studios and are using the space for our partner events with the Crafts Council.'
