MADE in the NORTH

Toffee Factory is delighted to be joining forces with the creative minds of MADE NORTH to bring EDITION#1, a celebration of contemporary northern graphic art, design and illustration, to Newcastle. For the duration of Northern Design Festival (10th – 19th October) this exhibition will showcase a selection of the best contemporary limited edition prints and zines produced by northern designer/makers, including The Designers Republic.
Patrick Murphy, curator of MADE NORTH, said of this collaborative venture:

MADE NORTH works across all areas of design from product to graphic and beyond. The north has such a rich heritage and vibrant contemporary design scene it’s very exciting to promote it. “
This celebration of contemporary northern graphic art, design and illustration features work by TDR™, OWT, Founded, We Live Here, Mick Marston and more. And if this wasn’t enough for you, there will be an evening of designer talks including none other than Ian Anderson of Designers Republic (TDR) notoriety. This one-off event will coincide with the launch of The Designers Republic + MADE NORTH Limited Edition print (Made – North of Nowhere) of which only 150 will be available. Speaking alongside Ian and Ashleigh of TDR will be Craig Oldham and Jonathan Wilkinson from We Live Here.
This ticketed event will be held Monday 14th October, 6.00 – 8.00pm.
Lisa Tolan of Creative Space Management, who run Toffee Factory, said:

As a home to numerous designers Toffee Factory is a fitting location for what promises to be the icing on Northern Design Festival’s cake.
The exhibition will be open to the public 10th – 19th October (closed Sunday) 10 – 5pm

'We love working with the Toffee Factory and their excellent team. The space is brilliantly designed by Xsite Architecture to nurture creativity and features furniture and prints by a number of Northern designers we work with on the Northern Design Festival. We have done pop up design events at the Toffee Factory during Open Studios and are using the space for our partner events with the Crafts Council.'
