Giant Lobsters at Toffee Factory entertain Ouseburn Festival crowds

July 23, 2012

Visitors passing Toffee Factory during the Ouseburn Festival had a surreal surprise on Sunday 22nd July, when two giant dancing lobsters entertained festival goers.

The two giant inflatable lobsters, known as Lobsters a la Cart by performance company Artizani, danced in the Toffee Factory courtyard as the Ouseburn Festival parade passed and intervals during the festival. The two lobsters were each pulled in a cart by a human and performed a variety of dances.

Lisa Tolan, Toffee Factory Centre Manager, for Creative Space Management said:

“We wanted to animate Toffee Factory’s courtyard space for visitors to the Ouseburn Festival, so invited Artizani to perform their Lobsters A la Cart entertaining young and old. As visitors wind their way along the riverside walkway they could watch Toffee Factory’s five metre high guests, swept ashore to join in the fun at the Ouseburn Festival.”

First popping up to cheer along the Ouseburn Festival parade at 11.30am, the giant guests also made hourly appearances for the dozens of visitors making their way between venues along the new riverside walkway.
