The end of 2018 saw Toffee Factory tenants and nearby neighbours pull together for the fourth foodbank collection of the year. A staggering amount of goods were received alongside a donation of £423.36 in cash.
Newcastle West End foodbank opened their doors in March 2013. They grew to be the largest foodbank in the UK and fed more than 40,000 last year. Offering emergency food assistance to people in the west end; which is one of the most economically and socially deprived areas in the North East. They rely on community support to ensure they can continue to provide three day emergency food parcels to those in need.
Through posters and social network campaigning, the word was spread and donations began to arrive. A bucket collecting cash was stationed at reception and many generous visitors contributed alongside our occupiers.
As the need for foodbanks is increasing, these organisations require our support more than ever. Collections will take place throughout the year so keep your eyes peeled on our social media for updates!
