Al fresco Lobster Fest at Toffee Factory

September 16, 2013

Toffee Factory hooked up with Riley’s Fish Shack this weekend to welcome 80 lucky diners to Lobster Fest. Inspired by traditional Swedish crayfish parties the sell-out event wowed guests and rounded off this year’s EAT! Festival in style.

The night was toasted in with glasses of schnapps on arrival as Riley’s Fish Shack got to work freshly-grilling all 143 lobsters. Guests took their seats along the enormous outdoor sharing table, quickly getting to know their fellow diners and donning party hats and lobster bibs. Platters of lobster were served alongside Sugar Down Bakery’s freshly baked breads served warm from a wood fired oven together with Northumberland based Doddington Dairy’s cheese. Real ales were supped from the bar which featured fine local beer from Wylam, Out of this World and Three Kings Breweries. Finally, everyone found their dancing shoes as The Baghdaddies provided the irresistible soundtrack to the evening.

One lucky diner, Julie Patterson said

“Toffee Factory certainly know how to throw a party! Saturday’s Lobster fest was a fabulous cacophony of great food and drink brilliant music and an opportunity to mix with some of the colourful characters from the Ouseburn.  All of which was delivered in the vibrant setting of the Toffee Factory courtyard.”

Creative Space, Toffee Factory’s management team are big supporters of great local produce and also run an established weekly street food pop up, Under the Arch each Thursday 12-2pm. All are welcome to enjoy some of the city’s favourite eateries including Blackfriars, Electric East, The Fat Hippo and Zapatista.

Dan Martin of Octo Design (based at Toffee Factory) said:

“A fantastic evening, it really underlines what is special about Toffee Factory, and the effort and imagination that the staff put into creating such an exciting and stimulating workspace.”

With many guests calling for Lobster Fest to become an annual event, watch this space!

what our clients say:

“¡VAMOS! has presented Mexican Wrestling for a few years now and we were genuinely thrilled when the Toffee factory accepted us! It is an inspiring and beautiful location, with talent in abundance and a great team delivering it. It is also a site that many of the festival audience won't have been to, so there were many surprised faces!"
