Trial Shift to serve up feast at Toffee Factory

April 24, 2015

Toffee Factory and Trial Shift are teaming up to host a one-off night of East Coast beats and Far East flavours. Join us for The Dirty Six Chambers, a massive 7 course feast of communal South East Asian food, served family style, and cooked by two of the region’s finest chefs.

Shaun Hurrell, originally hailing from America, and Newcastle-born Tom Anglesea are two highly accomplished chefs who, between them, rack up some pretty impressive credentials, having worked with some of the biggest talents in catering including Marcus Wareing, Fergus Henderson, Thomas Keller and Heston Blumental. They originally met working for Newcastle’s Terry Leybourne at Jesmond Dene House and, after a number of culinary adventures, moved back to the North East to lay roots and, in January 2015, pop-up venture Trial Shift was born.
Hurrell and Anglesea, who have previously served up their food at The Grazer’s Cookhouse and Ouseburn Coffee’s Harvest, change their menus from site to site, looking at the surroundings and basing a menu around each specific venue.

Don’t miss out on this one-off banquet, prepared before your very eyes by two hugely talented chefs in the stunning surroundings of Toffee Factory. And so let us leave you with the words of the Guardian‘s formidable restaurant critic Marina O’Loughlin, who said recently of Hurrell “when (he) opens a permanent spot in Newcastle, as I’m sure he will, I’ll be there like a rat up a drain”.

Friday June 12th, 7-10pm
