The Big Mmmm

May 2, 2013

Toffee Factory brings art and food together

Counting down the days until The Late Shows, Newcastle and Gateshead’s annual culture crawl, Toffee Factory is thoroughly excited to be playing host to The Big M, a stunning mobile exhibition venue that is home to a series of immersive film installations.

And if The Big M isn’t enough to entice you, maybe the prospect of some yummy, cinema-themed treats will lure you down to Toffee Factory. Always keen to support local businesses, Toffee Factory will be hosting a handful of stalls with Fat Hippo offering up gourmet hotdogs, Archer’s Jersey Ice Cream selling their especially created toffee apple, cinder toffee & toffee fudge ice creams, Teasy Does It will be keeping us in brews and Victorian Sweet Cart Company will be on hand to spin candyfloss and keep the corn popping. Alongside will be one of Newcastle’s most well-known traders of recent times, Ouseburn Coffee Company (OCC). Established in 2012, OCC , whose roastery is located in the heart of the Ouseburn Valley, have already made a name for themselves in the North-east and beyond as the go-to guys for artisan coffee.

Pete Bonnin, Ouseburn Coffee Co. said :

“We’re really looking forward to being part of the Late Shows along with Toffee Factory and the other local companies that are involved. Late Shows is a significant cultural event for many people in the North East and we’re delighted to be part of it, offering up our coffee and soaking up the atmosphere in the bustling Ouseburn Valley.”

Toffee Factory will be opening its doors to the public 7pm – 11pm on Friday 17th and Saturday 18th May and hopes the prospect of several local food stalls, as well as the eye-catching  structure that is Big M, will ensure that this year proves to be even busier than 2012.

Lisa Tolan for Creative Space Management said:

“We’re thrilled to have gathered together a selection of our favourite local foodies to play on our Late Shows cinema theme. We support local high quality suppliers of all kinds and this is great opportunity to showcase some fine North East based producers. The range of food and drink stalls will certainly add to the atmosphere and occasion and we can’t wait to sample what’s on offer.”

So with plenty of delectable offerings to tempt you, be sure to stick Toffee Factory on your Late Shows 2013 itinerary.

The Late Shows (www.thelateshows.org.uk) weekend offers a free after-hours tour around Newcastle and Gateshead’s museums, galleries and cultural venues on a Friday and Saturday night. It forms part of Museums at Night with events across the country, with hundreds of participating venues, of which Newcastle/Gateshead’s The Late Shows is the largest.
