Swing for Toffee

April 30, 2014

The Late Shows return in May and Toffee Factory invites you to take a step back in time. Saunter down and join them on Friday 16th and Saturday 17th May (7.00 – 11.00pm) for vintage glamour, killer cocktails and sounds that swing! Dust off those dancing shoes as Swung Eight, Newcastle’s original juke joint and speakeasy take to the floor on the hour every hour with the hottest tunes from the ‘20s, ’30s and ’40s.  Peruse vintage stalls, rediscover a glamorous age, sip deftly mixed cocktails and take your chance to shine in the much loved Moon Booth.

Bobbi Charleston of dance group Swung Eight said,

“The Late Shows is a brilliant event that really brings the city together and Toffee Factory is one of the venues that always make a great effort to do something different – we’re thrilled to be part of their event this year.”

A host of vintage stalls will join the party to tempt your pennies from you – sellers include The Yesterday Society, Al’s Music Boutique, RPM with their vintage audio furniture and artist, Maisie Henderson. Plenty of food and drink stalls will be on hand to keep you fed and watered, this year’s line up is Gareth Kyle, Sugar Down, Mary and Mabel and Tea Owl. The Late Shows will mark the launch of Dr Tarlos and his Elixir Emporium, the finest cocktails in town. And, if all of that wasn’t enough, Newcastle College’s talented hair and make up students will be here to transform you while Al’s Music Boutique will be on hand with shoe shine at the ready!

Lisa Tolan, Creative Space Management said,

In the two years we have been involved we’ve welcomed over 4000 visitors after hours and we hope to see you all again this year. Come and find your glamorous side at Toffee Factory then take your chance to explore the Valley on this cultural crawl.”

what our clients say:

"The team at the Toffee Factory do a great job in fuelling a creative work place. They put a lot of effort into what many landlords might consider to be the softer side of working life such as organising exciting food, cultural and leisure events. These things make a big positive difference to creative teams like ours and the other businesses in the building."
