Hear Ye! Hear Ye!

April 18, 2016

Celebrating ten years of The Late Shows and Toffee Factory’s fifth birthday year, Mariam Rezaei and The Old Police House will take over the decks and invite you to come and party! With resident DJs from The Old Police House and all over the North East, there will be a song for everyone. With DJ taster workshops for young ones in the early evening we will be mixing together music from all over the world. Expect a little bit of swing, mariachi, house, dub, hip hop and pop classics…we’ll be dancing under the arches and into the night.

Mariam Rezaei, Artistic Director, The Old Police House said “I can’t wait to bring The Old Police House crew with me to take over the Toffee Factory! With Tim Bailey’s exciting installation to work with, the arches and lights, it’s really going to be a fantastic block party!  Make sure you’re wearing your dancing shoes!”

While the music plays out visitors are invited to enter xsite architecture’s TF Ear Piece installation inspired by the bizarre and wonderful listening devices and contraptions of past generations.

Tim Bailey, Partner, xsite architecture, said “Toffee Factory has become one of the stalwarts of the Friday Ouseburn Late Shows extravaganza. So we are delighted to be designing and building the TF Ear Piece for visitors to enhance their experience of this year’s guest DJs. It’ll be a blast!”

All your food and drink needs catered for with everything from the Toffee Factory’s very own Toonshine ale and the phenomenal Fat Hippo burger bar you won’t go hungry. Expect juicy burgers and delicious fries as the perfect fuel for dancing the night away. Toffee Factory has welcomed over ten thousand visitors through their doors whilst taking part in The Late Shows for the last five years.

“Toffee Factory has been one of the top destinations for Late Shows in recent years and with this year’s collaboration with xsite architecture’s Ear Piece Installation and The Old Police House we expect to be hosting several thousand people over the weekend. We look forward to welcoming you to this fantastic location for creative and digital businesses…” said Toby Hyam, Managing Director of Creative Space Management at Toffee Factory.

The Late Shows (www.lateshows.co.uk) weekend offers a free after-hours tour around Newcastle and Gateshead’s museums, galleries and cultural venues on a Friday 13th May and Saturday 14th May 7pm-11pm.
