Ouseburn Delta Festival 2015

We have united with Riley’s Fish Shack of Newcastle’s Boiler Shop Steamer, and Nik Barrera, director of ¡VAMOS! Festival, to coordinate a vibrant 3 day festival of music, food and Mardi Gras merriment. In a nod to the multicultural traditions of Southern America, Ouseburn Delta will showcase some of the region’s finest musical & culinary talents in a colourful flurry of feasting, live music & more. Ouseburn Delta Festival has been produced with support from The Malings.

Lobster

Kicking off with an al fresco banquet inspired by the Creole cuisine of the Louisiana, guests will dine on char grilled lobster, flat breads and, of course, the Southern staple gumbo. This communal dining experience, brought to you by Riley’s Fish Shack, is spread over two nights. With live music by House of the Black Gardenia, who’ll be bringing their viper jazz, dirty blues and hot vintage swing to the table, this evening feast promises to enchant the senses.

Last Gasp

Then on the Saturday, music takes centre stage with headline performances from London-based musician and producer Gizmo Varillas, who has mesmerised crowds the world over with his own unique “Dark Tropical” sounds, and jazz funk band King Bee. Support comes from country blues and west coast swing from Jim Murray, Lee Bates & Billy Newton and jug music super group The Last Gasp Spasm Band, multi-instrumentalist Alex de Alfaro, acoustic folk and blues from YUMA and experimental folk rock courtesy of Hot Bullets of Shotgun, to name but a few. All this plus parades, activities for children, street food, a themed bar, DJs & stalls means there’ll be something for everyone.

This music extravaganza be divided into two slots: Family-friendly during the day 12-4pm with storytelling and craft activities led by Little Big Butterfly, then it’s over to the over 18s 6-10pm for more of the same, with an evening of live music, acoustic sets, delicious soul food… and maybe even a spot of dancing too!
Once things wrap up at Toffee Factory, evening ticket holders are then entitled to head up to ¡Vamos! Social, former Venue / Tuxedo Junction nightclub, in Newcastle city centre for the official after party that will go on into the small hours (for those that can keep up!).
